Important Instructions for Category Certificates for IIT JAM 2026 Application Form
Students of reserved categories interested in applying for IIT JAM 2026 must upload a valid category certificate issued only by authorised officials. Certificates that are issued by any unauthorised authority will not be accepted. The approved authorities that issue Category Certificate for IIT JAM Application Form 2026 are:
District Magistrate / Deputy Collector / Additional Deputy Commissioner / City Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ First Class Stipendiary Magistrate
Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate or Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate
Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the students and/or their family normally reside.
Revenue Officers who are not below the rank of Tehsildar.
Administrator / Development Officer/ Secretary to Administrator (Lakshadweep Islands).
For PwD students in JAM 2026, the benefit of reservation and fee concession will only be given if the student has a benchmark disability of 40% or more. Also, the PwD certificate must only be issued by a Chief Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon, or Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
For OBC-NCL and EWS categories, the certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2025. The scanned copy of the certificate must be uploaded in PDF format, and the file size should be between 10 KB and 300 KB. Students will also have to show the original certificate for verification later in the admission process at IIT JAM 2026 participating institutes.
