Passing Marks for IIT JAM 2026: The minimum marks to qualify IIT JAM exam for the acadmemic year 2026-27 will around 8-42 for General category, 7-34 for OBC/EWS, and 4-21 for SC/ST/PwD. These numbers have been calculated using the previous year cutoff trends. These marks are called qualifying or cutoff marks. They are the least scores you need to be considered for admission into institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs, and others. Each of the seven subjects in IIT JAM - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Geology, Biotechnology, and Economics - has its own qualifying cutoff. But scoring the minimum marks does not mean you will get admission. Every university decides its own final cutoff for different courses based on merit and the number of applicants, and you need to clear that cutoff to actually get admission.

Passing Marks for IIT JAM 2026

The pass marks for IIT JAM 2026 are divided into two main categories:

  • Qualifying Marks: These are the lowest marks you must score to be considered for admission to IIT JAM 2026 participating institutes . The qualifying marks will depend, based on your category.
  • Admission Ranks: After the exam, you will get an All India Rank in each subject based on your score. Admission to various universities and courses is based on these ranks and the options selected by you in the admission form.
